The focus of FrockTalk is not to comment on the big flashy costume dramas, but to call attention to the seemingly ordinary costume design work in film that silently and persuasively moves the audience toward understanding the characters. If you have ever known anyone who has (or have, yourself) suffered with alcoholism, you have probably heard of Alcoholics Anonymous. The organization was co-founded in 1937 by Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith, and it has helped countless alcoholics to become (and stay) sober. Wilson’s wife Lois formed Al-Anon, a separate support group designed to help the alcoholics’ family members and friends. When Love Is Not Enough is her story, and it is powerful indeed.
