The focus of FrockTalk is not to comment on the big flashy costume dramas, but to call attention to the seemingly ordinary costume design work in film that silently and persuasively moves the audience toward understanding the characters. Costume design for motion pictures is an art form that deserves more recognition than it usually gets. Fancy, pretty costumes do not always equal effective, appropriate costumes. Celebration of Costume Design Event!

Here’s an awesome opportunity to celebrate some great costumes, learn some things about costume design for movies, and to get a makeover!!!  This event is open to the public, and it’s being hosted by Turner Classic Movies and Bloomingdale’s – how cool is that?!!  Frocktalker and friend Deborah Nadoolman Landis will be there to answer all of your costume design questions – trust me, she has an encyclopedic knowledge of our art form – and it looks like it will be a fun time!  RSVP at 310-985-6246 by Monday.  Event takes place on Wednesday, March 28 from 7P – 9P at the Beverly Center Bloomingdale’s – roll on over after work!  Sounds like a lot of fun!!
