Hi there, Frocktalkers! It’s finally here – for those of you who did not get to make it to Pacific Palisades to see the big TEDx talk, here it is in its entirety. Hope you enjoy it! Big thanks to everyone who helped me with this: Susanica, Carrie, Ruth, Anthony, Sam, Eladio, Mel, Ken, Michael, Michele, Michelle, Lauren, Stacy, Rebecca, Joseph, Beth, Carlos, Lois, Aasha, Darren, and all of my Chico Junior High girlfriends! Thanks to Andrew McGregor for inviting me to speak – it was nerve-wracking, but it was fun! Have a great weekend, everyone!
It’s a big week in the life of KB, y’all! Two projects I’ve worked my butt off on are debuting, and I want to tell you about all of it. First, Insidious Chapter 2 comes out in theaters on Friday the 13th. If you saw Insidious, you know there were some hanging chads at the end there… I am looking forward to seeing the film – I haven’t seen any of it edited or anything. It will be a nerve-wracking surprise to be in the theater, seeing the film for the first time along with audience members. What’s done is done, and I won’t be able to change it. I’m sorry to be missing the premiere; I understand that Universal Studios is doing a whole Insidious-themed haunted house this year – sounds like FUN! It would be so cool to see that. I’m sad to be out of town, missing this! I wonder what they will do with the costumes…?! If any of you go to this haunted house, will you please take pictures for me? Thanks! ☺
Second, on Monday night at 9PM/8PM Central on FOX… it’s SLEEPY HOLLOW!!! That’s what I’ve been doing here in North Carolina. The pilot was designed by the amazing and talented Sanja Hays, and I am designing the rest of the season. As much as I’ve said I would never design television, I have to tell you – this crew is a dream, and everyone working on the show has been so supportive, helpful and awesome. I’m grateful to be on this show, because it has changed my mind about television, and brought me a new appreciation for the art form. We are working our butts off, and I really hope you like the show. Tune in on Monday nights! Hope you all have a good week – stay tuned for more info to come!
Thank you, Frocktalk readers, for two marvelous years. I look forward to providing you with more reviews and interviews – I have some really good ones to post later this week. Thank you for your readership, your interest, your emails and your support. Thank you for strengthening and celebrating the costume community! Here’s to many more years to come. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone.
All summer, I’ve been up to my eyeballs on a film. I was crazed, and I didn’t have much time to do this Frocktalk work (which means so much to me). I couldn’t tell anyone, not even my family, what the film is about or what it is called, as I had signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement and was bound to silence by the terms of the agreement… until today. The film comes out in 3,000 theaters tonight, so now I can tell you that the film I was working on all summer is… Paranormal Activity II.

Hollywood’s cheerful answer to the depressing “awards-season” fare is furry, cute and musically talented. The Chipmunks (Alvin, Simon and Theodore) have been entertaining families for over half a century. Their irreverence, wit and sense of mischief have beguiled children and grown-ups of all ages. These Grammy-winning rodents have had platinum records and chart-topping hits. They are slam-dunk audience pleasers, and their latest oeuvre delivers even more charm in the form of the “Chipettes”, the female answers to Alvin, Simon and Theodore.
